This home began as a classic Albert Park terrace with a heritage façade and a compact footprint. The clients were passionate entertainers and wanted a home that felt warm, atmospheric and alive — a place where the kitchen could function like a bar and the rear of the home could open into a New‑York‑style industrial loft.
Industrial warmth, crafted with intention.
We leaned into a palette of recycled timber, highly polished brass and reclaimed red brick — materials with history, texture and soul. Together, they created a warm, luxurious interior that feels both grounded and elevated. The kitchen became the heart of the home: intimate, moody and designed for gatherings that stretch long into the night.
Light where you least expect it.
One of the most surprising moments in the home is the enclosed bathroom, where natural light filters down through the upper level. This quiet architectural move brings softness and calm into a space that would traditionally be dark, adding to the home’s sense of retreat.
A rooftop garden with a European spirit.
At the top of the home, a rooftop garden overlooks the pool — a rare luxury in a terrace footprint. Up here, surrounded by greenery and warm materials, the clients often say it feels like they’ve been transported somewhere else entirely: Paris, Rome, New York… anywhere but Melbourne.
