This Hawthorn project was shaped around a clear brief: create a home with presence — a place to entertain friends and family, to enjoy long lunches, and to live surrounded by materials that feel grounded, warm and enduring. The client, semi‑retired and ready to invest in a home that reflected his lifestyle, wanted something bold and memorable.

Materiality that speaks with confidence.

We crafted the home around a rich, tactile palette: bluestone‑clad walls, timber‑lined ceilings and a polished concrete slab that anchors the interior. These materials work together to create a sense of permanence and quiet luxury — a home that feels both robust and refined.

Bringing the landscape into the architecture.

A key design move was to blur the boundary between inside and out. Landscaping was brought deep into the home so the architecture and garden speak the same language. The result is a seamless living experience where greenery, stone and timber feel interconnected and calm.

The focal point of the renovation is the dramatic six‑metre‑high dining room — a soaring volume that opens to the garden courtyard. Light pours in from above, creating a sense of scale and atmosphere that transforms everyday moments into something special.
